Far Rockaway Village is a transformative, five-phase affordable housing development spanning 9.5 acres in Far Rockaway, Queens. Developed by Phipps Houses and designed by Marvel Architects, the project encompasses eight buildings totaling approximately 2 million square feet and delivering nearly 1,700 affordable housing units. Located near the Far Rockaway–Mott Avenue subway station, the development has transformed a previously underutilized area into a vibrant residential and commercial community. Completed over five phases, the project includes a combination of 10, 12, and 15 story buildings, integrating residential apartments with retail and commercial space, community facilities, and structured parking. Beyond the residential buildings, the development introduced new infrastructure, private streets, landscaped plazas, playgrounds, basketball courts, and community gardens. Additional amenities include fitness rooms, playrooms, and gathering spaces designed to enhance residents’ quality of life and encourage community engagement. As one of the largest affordable housing developments in the area, Far Rockaway Village represents a significant investment in the neighborhood’s future, expanding access to quality housing while supporting economic growth and the continued revitalization of the Far Rockaway community.
