The Freedom Village project involves replacement of an existing building that Barrier Free Living (BFL) has operated on since 1990. The 13-story project, located in lower Manhattan, will include 75 supportive apartments that provide housing for low income adults and families. In addition, there will be administration offices, support spaces, a community room, and upper-level outdoor recreation areas. Every space within the building is designed to meet Universal Accessibility standards, exceeding the ADA and local handicap accessibility requirements. Barrier Free Living non-profit is the owner of this project with co-development by Urban Builders Collaborative—the affiliate of Lettire Construction Corp., the project’s general contractor, and the architects are JCJ Architecture.
